The Brief

Lifestyle photography for Andalusia’s first boutique hotel

Hotel Claude is considered the first boutique hotel in Marbella, a 17th-century townhouse rebuilt around an Andalusian courtyard in the old town, minutes from the beach and the Plaza de los Naranjos. The brief called for lifestyle photography rather than architectural documentation: images built around two guests moving through a single day, for the hotel’s website, social channels and press.

Lifestyle photography with models gives a boutique hotel something architectural photography alone cannot: proof of experience. A patio reads as a photograph until someone crosses it with a suitcase. A breakfast table is a still life until two people are actually eating from it. As a hotel and luxury property photographer, that distinction shapes every decision on set: casting, wardrobe, direction, and the discretion to shoot inside a fully operational hotel without disrupting real guests.

The Approach

Casting the story, not just the shot

Every frame in this campaign follows two guests, played by models Patricia Pérez Blanco and Pablo Herrera Gómez, through a full day at the hotel: arrival, the Andalusian patio, breakfast in a suite, lunch on the terrace, drinks as the evening settles in. Directing models inside a working boutique hotel is a different discipline to shooting an empty room. Wardrobe, gesture and timing all have to read as unposed, while staying out of the way of actual guests and staff moving through the same spaces.

An Andalusian courtyard as the hero location

Hotel Claude’s identity sits in its courtyard: brick archways, wrought iron and geraniums against whitewashed walls, under a glass roof original to the townhouse. We treated the patio as the hinge of the whole shoot, the point where street photography of Marbella’s old town becomes hotel photography proper. It is the same approach we bring to any luxury property where the architecture is as much the subject as the guests inside it.

A luxury property told across a single day

The finished sequence moves from morning to night: arrival at the entrance, breakfast served in a suite, lunch on the rooftop terrace above the rooftops of San Lucas, and the library once the light drops. Sequencing lifestyle photography this way gives a hotel a ready-made narrative for its website and social channels alike, in place of a folder of disconnected room shots.

The Result

The shoot produced a complete lifestyle photography library now in use across Hotel Claude’s website, social channels and press materials. It is photography that positions the property as what it is: a considered, boutique alternative to Marbella’s larger resort hotels, built for guests who want the old town on their doorstep, not just a pool.

As with every luxury hospitality project we take on, the brief and the delivery were the same size: a small, independent property gets the same casting, direction and retouching standard we bring to five-star groups, scaled to fit a boutique hotel’s budget and schedule.
